I can consistently make mc hang when traversing my local network (via mapped drives). Anyone else having difficulties with this?
Thanks.

I think I recall some discussion on this, and I believe that MC is trying to make something out of the content you browse. Pick up tags from files etc, so it looks better on new visits. I might be wrong, but if I'm not, this can be some of the reason it's a bit slow the first time you access folders.

What is in the folder?
Could you provide a log?
We analyze files before showing them (like an import), but this should be quite fast even for video now.
-
Does the hang only occur at startup?
-
I'll provide a log later today. Thanks Matt.
The drive contains a mix of audio and video - lots of it. Shares containing smaller quantities of data perform fine.
When I first hit "enter" to expand the drive's content, theater view animations grind to slow motion, making navigation basically impossible. Shortly after, mc is completely unresponsive.

One thing I noticed today is that Theater View will honor the same 'Show Files In Subfolders' option from Standard View.
That's off by default each launch, but if you turn it on in Standard View, then browse in Theater View, it's going to be slow.

In a coming build:
Faster: When browsing Explorer views, file are analyzed several at a time instead of one at a time (makes browsing unimported files must faster in Standard View and Theater View).
Faster: DVD analyze / import times are much faster.
Faster: Improved performance of Theater View 'Explorer' views.
