Hi,
I am thinking about purchasing a laptop with HD 3000 graphics and I wonder if its graphics performance would be good enough to enable Red October HQ mode for 1080p videos or OTA HDTV files (.ts)? How does madVR work with it? I would imagine none of the CUDA-specific improvements work but could we use any of the LAV filters?
Thanks,
Osho

LAV now supports video hardware acceleration on iX Sandy Bridge chips (and soon all DXVA cards).

You should be able to run RO+HQ on your system. I can do it on my Z68 Board with i5-2500K (HD3000). What CPU do you have?
My Benchmark score is:

Thanks for informing. I haven't yet bought the notebook computer yet but the one that I am considering is Core i5-2520M (HD3000).

What about the Intel Sandy 23.976Hz blu-ray playback issue issue?

I installed a AMD Radeon 6450 based video card into my HTPC replacing my Intel Sandy HD2000 on-board graphics. It fixed the problem!

VideoClock should be able to fix that problem, assuming you don't bitstream your audio.

FYI - the latest version of MC now uses LAV's / QuickSync HW Acceleration for the HD 3000 (and other Intel IGP). I have been running my i7-2600K based HTPC with the HD 3000 for a couple of months with few issues and the addition of the HW Accell option will ensure lower end CPU's have little difficulty as well.
Couple of comments on getting the best from the HD 3000:
1) in madVR I needed to change the Scaling algorithms to not use the ones with "TAPS" (eg Lanczos or Spline) but appart from that have not changed any other setting
2) ATI and nvidia have mostly fixed the issue of the HDMI connection being dropped or the EDID information being changed when the receiver is OFF or switched source. I found that in my AV config, the HD 3000 would tend to drop the HDMI audio as the default connection in this case. I reinserted my old DVI Detective Plus (keeps broadcasting the EDID info) and it is rock solid.
So..... if you were building a new dedicated HTPC at present, I'd certainly recommend just using the HD 3000 over adding a separate GPU. It works well and keeps heat, noise etc down.
Very happy! ;D

Thanks jmone for reporting.. I am now eagerly waiting for Ivybridge CPUs :).
