Title: Samsung Galaxy & Gizmo
Post by: petrossa on January 18, 2012, 12:37:41 pm
What does Gizmo want from me when it asks for for Flash Player from Market to play movies? Which flash player? Adobe doesn't have an android version.

Did you try a search on the Market for the phone?

Yes, i get all kinds of apps that can read flash files from the sdcard, but no 'official' flash player. I dl'd a few but that didn't go very far.

On my Samsung Galaxy Nexus's Market, it's called "Adobe Flash Player 11".

On my Samsung Galaxy Ace it's called: get lost. Would you mind linking to the apk? I guess since apple won the fight over the Ace it is banned from the market. Almost nothing installs whilst it's running stock gingerbread 2.3.4

Even couldn't get the offical MSN hotmail app downloaded, got the apk from a friend and it installed without a hitch. Marketplace is the reason why Appplanet exists.

Try visiting flash.com. I don't have a link.

I wrote this to Market:

There is something wrong with your detection method. Half of the offical developer apps, such as this one, but also MSN Hotmail get flagged as Incompatible with this device when they clearly aren't. I know since i got the APK's directly from friends and they install and work fine.

Besides it would be patently ridiculous that a Samsung Galaxy with Gingerbread would be incompatible with about any app out there.

Please correct the error in my profile so i can download apps and decide for myself if they are incompatible. I like deciding for myself. I hate it when some unknown entity does that for me.

Crappy mess, market.  :-X

Ok, i downloaded it from the BlackMarket. Works like a charm. Way to go to drive people into illegality. (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1828618/scratch.jpeg)

No.  Try visiting flash.com in your phone's browser.  Does that work?

Got it. You have to first change the permissions on libflashplayer.so

One hell of a userfriendly platform. I don't mean Gizmo which works perfectly...

MC 18 uses MPEG-4 for video streaming to Gizmo.

It looks better, uses less bandwidth, and doesn't require Flash.

I am very tempted to update to MC 18 but really wary of having to set everything up again but I should take the plunge as I have a good spec HTPC. Maybe I will give MC 18 a whirl over xmas :)

To answer my own question this post got me up and running. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27135411&postcount=6
