Title: CDDB NOT WORKING!!!
Post by: JaredH on May 14, 2002, 12:40:11 am
Ok heres the thread that i was asked to start on the CDDB option not working on my system. I shall repost all problems occuring;

Going to options menu and choosing the device options and first checking the 'use CDDB for online CD lookup' and then clicking settings, then when i click CDDB registration inside the settings window i get nothing, like its a dummy button, not even a crash, just nothing at all. CDDB will not connect at all when CD is inserted. I have no other music programs on the system except for the ever present, undeletable, WMP (hack hack cough cough). I just installed Easy CD-DA Extractor today and its not an interference because ive been having the CDDB problem for days now. OK heres my system info once again

WinXP Home
p4 1.7
768 RAM
40gb internal HD (system)
60gb external HD (muiltimedia)
Soundblaster Audigy MP3  sound card
1.5mbps DSL connection
GeForce4 Ti 4600 128mb DDR
Hitachi DVD-ROM
Goldstar 8160b CD_RW

I think thats it.
Hope that helps

Jared,
I think I asked you to do a search on CDDB here and read some of those threads.  Did you find any?

This problem was covered very well in the last 10 days in another thread.

Please go back through old threads and see if you can find anything.

The basic problem with cddb is that there are more than one version of the software and they don't play well together, so if another music program is installed, it can stop cddb from working sometimes.  Often a reinstallation of MJ will cure this.

Do the MJ 8 full install (on the downloads page), then install the 8.0.272 upgrade from this Interact page. That should fix it.
