Title: Missing Media Center shell context menu?
Post by: nonsub on January 23, 2012, 08:12:50 pm
When I right click a file or folder I have no Media Center entry / context menu. If I right click a file I have Play in Media Center but not the Media Center menu. I have re-installed to no avail.

Thanks!

Thanks. I have tried thatl. I also did a full uninstall plus deleted any associated registry entries I could find. The problem remains.

Can you perphas send me the relevant reg keys?

Yeah this is really screwed up. I compared with another machine, even after remove, reintstall, reboot there are a bunch of registry entries that are missing/not being created including the lack of anything to do with JRShellExt.dll  what could be happening here???

thx

Do you have shell integration activated in your latest install? I know it's a stupid, obvious suggestion, but you never know...

LMAO thanks fitbrit, I did not. Since my main install (HTPC) didn't require manually setting this option I didn't even know it was an option!!!

Is it just me or is this indeed not enabled by default?

It's always been an option but once you get used to it, it's hard to live without. Every time I do a fresh install of MC, the first thing I do is enable it and also max out the number of previous commands MC retains on right clicking - just 8. :(
