Is there a way to remove stuff from the library yet not the playlist...I ripped a lot of Christmas music and my favorite way to play MC is a random shuffle of the library. I would like to put all the Christmas stuff into a playlist and remove it from the general library so as to make it possible to play the library and skip the Christmas stuff???

Instead, create a Smartlist that includes everything except Genre is Christmas. Set Modify Results to Shuffle.
Or use PlayDoctor. Create a Playchart to exclude Genre is Christmas.

You could also add the same as a filter on your main Audio view, and then make another one just for Christmas stuff.
So, in the tree, drag your main audio view (whichever one you like and use the most) and drop it on the Audio item in the tree. It'll ask you if you want to move or copy the view. Choose Copy. Now you'll have a new one with a (1) after it.
Select the new one and right-click, choose Rename and rename it "Christmas".
Right click on it again and choose Customize View.
Click the Set rules for file display button, and add a rule that says [Genre] = Christmas.
Close the dialogs. Now, it will only show your Christmas stuff in that view (assuming you've tagged your Christmas rips properly), but it'll look and work just like your original one.
Next, right click on your original view that you use and choose Customize View.
Follow the same steps as above to add a rule, but make it the opposite rule this time (Genre is not Christmas).
Done.

You're not gonna be interested in these 'til next Christmas, right?
Another option for you is to use Access control.
From the top toolbar, click "View > Access Control"
Enable Access Control
Choose "Show only files matching custom search"
Customise Search
set it to "Genre | Is Not | Christmas" (assuming you set the Crimbo stuff [genre] to Christmas)
OK out of there and the Christmas stuff will be hidden from everywhere within MC. All you need to do is remember to turn of the access control next December.
