Title: New Gizmo question...is this normal?
Post by: JIMV on January 30, 2012, 10:06:20 am
Gizmo is up and operating on my windows 7 system through my Droid 3...I do have a few questions though.

1. Gizmo works only when MC17 has been clicked and is awake on my PC
2. Gizmo does not connect when the PC is asleep or the laptop is closed
3. Gizmo will not turn MC17 on when the PC is on but the MC17 program has not been started on the PC
4. Gizmo will work when MC17 shows an icon on the task bar but is not responding to directions from that icon

So, my question is, are these behaviors normal. Are there settings in the program that will allow the user to start MC17 from gizmo if the PC is on or asleep?

Run Media Server on Windows boot.  It's in the Startup options.

Investigate Wake On Lan.  It's in our wiki.

Alas, your instructions for 'wake on LAN' are written for IT specialists, not audiophiles...I have no idea what that thread is saying or telling me to do.

I assume "run media server on windows boot" means pin it to the start menu?? Am I correct?

If you're going to use services like WOL, you're going to have to learn the lingo.

For Media Server, go to MC's options for Startup.

No it means, when Windows Boots (and you've logged in if needed), The Media Server will run.

This does not require that you open MC.
