Title: Text search now searches name, filename, artist
Post by: mirdle on January 31, 2012, 12:27:57 am
Even though these fields are not marked as default search fields in the library options, with MC17 when I type in a text search in the search box, results are returned that match the query for name, filename and artist.

MC16 didn't do that.

I would prefer the text search box searched only those library fields that I designate for default search.

Is there a way to fix this?

Anyone? This is a dealbreaker for me as far as MC17 goes.  I've had to go back to MC16.

The default search field option is only honored for user fields in v17.  For stock fields, the program decides what fields make sense to search (based on the field, if they have data, etc.)

The problem is that it is returning way too many results because it is searching on filename, name, artist and probably other fields.

Could you give some examples of what you're typing in the search box, and the types of matches you don't want to see?

Thanks.
