One question: Carnac Tagging.
I'm not using MC 17 until now.
Is it possible to tag Video files AND select Tags which should be tagged or not?
Because I'm from Austria and don't want to tag the Name of Movie Files for Example.
I must "Re-Tag" all Files to get the German names again, because in MC16 they are automatic
tagged to their Original English Name.
If not,it would be great to make it selectable!

This has been discussed at-length in the Beta group. There is no metadata lookup "mapping" system currently. Jim said (in another thread) that this is something they'll consider for the future, but they're trying to get the "full auto" mode working smoothly for now. He wasn't willing to say whether this is something they'll do for sure, or even if it would be this version or not till later.
Just to clear a couple things up: Carnac just parses the filenames. The automatic Metadata lookup system is somewhat separate, and happens after Carnac does its thing.
There is, currently, no way to "protect" any particular field from being filled by the Automatic Metadata lookup system other than to make sure that the field in question already contains data. The Automatic Metadata Lookup system will not overwrite existing tags. It only fills blank tags on import. However, this isn't a huge problem because we now have Carnac's brother, the Tag On Import rules system.
If you need assistance using this system, this would be a good place to start: How To: Use Tag on Import Rules in Auto-Import for Fun and Profit (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=68462.0)

If it doesn't overwrite existing Tags, then it's good for me.
So my Movie names (Name Tag Field) will not be overwritten, then?

Correct.
There is one exception to this regarding the [Name] tag particularly. The Auto-Metadata Tagger will overwrite the [Name] tag for files where [Media Sub Type] = TV Show, and [Series], [Season], and [Episode] are all filled with valid data at import time.
That's necessary because [Name] always gets filled with something at import (if nothing else, the filename of the imported file). So, if you didn't have that exception, then the Auto-Metadata system would never be able to lookup the [Name] tag for anything.
For TV Shows, we all discussed it and agreed that it was worth doing because most imports don't come in with good data here anyway, and otherwise there would be no way for the Automated system to EVER write to the [Name] tag.
For any other [Media Sub Types], [Name] is never written by the automated system, because it always contains something at import-time.

PS. You may want to wait for the next public build of MC before experimenting with this heavily. There have been some changes in the betas that have improved the behavior. I'm really not sure where it stood with build 75.
I think they're working to push the current betas public as soon as they get them cleaned up a bit.

Another important distinction I should make clear...
This rule (that it will never fill tags that already contain data) ONLY applies to the automated metadata lookup system that is part of Auto-Import.
If you run the tool manually by right-clicking and choosing the "Get Info" option, it WILL.

Ah,I see.
So if i want to keep the Names, i will have to import them to my library again.
That's not so good.
I think i have to wait a few more builds and see what's coming next...
Thanks for the Info!
