I love the new metadata lookup options and have processed about a third of my video library so far. I had a few questions to ask and rather than start a bunch of different threads I thought I'd just post them in one. Hope that's okay.
TheTVDb Lookup
1. Where is the TheTVDb ID stored?
2. Can it be edited?
3. Is it only used for metadata lookup?
- is it used to search for backdrops? if not, might this be considered? (consider Battlestar Galactica, The Office - a series search will get the wrong release)
- is it used for fields attached to series relations, or do these still use the [Series] field
TMDb lookup
4. Does MC store any equivalent ID for movie lookups?
- Backdrops seem to result from a name search, which is often wrong if the name has a few releases or if it doesn't exactly match the TMDb entry
- If I've 'matched' a movie to the correct TMDb entry on a manual lookup, MC isn't remembering this on subsequent automatic lookups and may import metadata from another title
5.The TMDb lookup mentions "Author" as one of the fields.
- There is a default [Author] field in MC, but I can't seem to add it as a pane or column anywhere. Is this a bug?
A few requests
- Would you be able to relax the prohibition on Season=0 TheTVDb searches (to accommodate retrieving data for specials)?
- Would it be possible to retrieve date aired for individual episodes from TheTVDb? This would allow sorting by release date with proper order of specials etc.
- Is there anyway to retrieve the 'Network' and 'Genre' fields from TheTVDb at a series level? Seems a shame having genre empty for TV when it's there and available.
My observations on coverart lookup for video:
- personally, for a while I was very confused when I performed a coverart operation whether I was retrieving art for the Series or for the individual Episode (files). I think this could benefit from a bit more clarity as far as what the operation is going to do
- it seems all the 'right click > coverart' options affect episodes/files only, except for 'get from internet' which affects series
- it seems 'get from internet' will only appear as an option if Media Subtype is TV series
- where does 'get from internet' pull the covers from? Most of them look from TheTVDb (but it doesn't have all of them)
- is MC now using a YaDb equivalent, as the interface looks similar?
- there is no similar option for movies - the only way to lookup is through 'Get Movie & TV Info' which might not be immediately obvious if it's just coverart I'm interested in
- if I find a better series poster, there is no way from within the program to use it. A few times I've pasted coverart from clipboard, but it updates the thumbs for the episodes, not for the series
- I find myself looking for a 'add series art from...' option in there

Not sure if there is a better way to do the last two bullets...
Go to Drives & Devices -> Television -> Recordings, click on the series of interest (all TV Series files are here, not just those recorded) and use the Image button on the top right. I agree that a more obvious place would be helpful.
