Title: How to fix an album that is splitted in tracks on MC?
Post by: Urbanito on February 09, 2012, 07:28:21 am
I bought several albums from HDTracks. All of them were imported to MC, but two. One of them was presented without it cover and the other, instead of being a single album with all it tracks, was presented like 13 albums, each one with the same cover, but with just one track. Something was "lost in translation".
I tried to import it several times, deleting all the 13 and reimporting them. To know "how to" was the reason of my previous post. The Album, on it folder looked perfectly OK - one album with 13 tracks -.
After HDTracks permission, I deleted the two albums and re-downloaded them. The problem subsists. The two have in common to be Chesky records, but I bought another one from the same brand without problems.
Can anyone help me? I will remain very grateful.
Kind regards,

Urbanito

In MC look at the [Album Artist] tag if they are different they will appear as different albums.
How you have your view grouped may also be causing it.

Hi Scolex:
I am very sorry, but I just saw your answer.
In fact the Album Artist is the same - Various Artists - in all tracks.
So, is there something else I can do? This is the only album I have like this.
Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem with many albums in my music collection. Ripped over 500 cds with windows media player11 a while ago and just tried to import 5 different times to MC17 and get dozens of albums that show up multiple times with only one song in each. windows media displays all correctly and I'm NOT reripping all the cds so I hope there is a solution!
Thanks
Ray

From the tab drop-down menu, set the List Style of your view to Details. Right-click on the column header and add columns to show [Artist], [Album Artist], [Album Artist (auto)], [Album Type], [Disc #], [Track #] and [Filename] side-by-side. This should illustrate the problem, whatever it may be. The most likely cause of this issue is probably inconsistent values in [Album Artist] overriding [Album Artist (auto)]—which is used to group by album. Unless it's necessary to override [Album Artist (auto)], there should be no values in [Album Artist].

If they are compilation/multiple artist albums you need to use (multiple artists) in the [Album Artist] field. Select group by Album in the menu that appears when you hover over the Tab.

The (Multiple Artists) value should appear automatically in the [Album Artist (auto)] field when the following conditions are met:

- All album files are in the same folder
- The files have more than one [Artist] value
- The folder does not contain other files (i.e. files with a different [Album] value)

Tagging the separate "manual" [Album Artist] field is not necessary, but if a certain album artist name is preferred instead of (Multiple Artists), the [Album Artist] field can be tagged for overriding the automatic value.
