Title: Podcast errors
Post by: huntingfield on February 21, 2012, 02:03:55 pm
I use the latest MC (17.0.91) and have errors when updating podcast feeds as following.

This podcast feed is not currently available, or contains a data format error. Please notify the webmaster, or just check back later.
XML Field Error: item 1 episode: 1 tag=pubDate value=Sun, 12 Feb 2012 14:00:00 -0500

This error happens in some podcast feeds even in MC default feeds, such as "CBS Face the Nation", "Engadget" and so on.

I suppose MC's parser is too strict for many podcast feeds published since I can listen these feeds by iTunes.

Does the MC team have any plans to fix the issue ?

Thanks.

Both Engadget and CBS Face the Nation are working for me here.

I wonder what might be different?  What is your locale setting in Windows (English, Spanish, etc.)?

Thanks.

Thanks for response.

I am using Windows in Japanese.
To be more specific, I handle successfully Chris Evans and NPR on Music among default feeds, but failed to do others.
What do you think the cause of problem ?

Are you running the Media Server in the background perhaps? I had this same error a few builds back with some podcasts that had worked fine for months. Closing the server and restarting Media Center 17 fixed the issue for me.

I found out my situation is relating to "Regional and language options" of Operating system.
I could successfully download all feeds of default podcasts when I set "Standards and formats" to "English (United States)", but failed to do when "Japanese".

Could JRiver developers fix the issue ?

The Japanese month abbreviations (equivalents to Jan, Feb, etc.) are simply numbers, and this was causing troubles.

Look for a fix in a coming build.
