Title: Lost my MC15 playlists
Post by: jagdriver on February 21, 2012, 02:29:22 pm
I updated from MC15 to MC17 over the weekend. I had hoped that 17 would pickup my existing playlists, but no.

I cannot launch 15 again without encountering this err msg: "Unable to register controls. Please run as a power user." Well, not only am I a PU, but I'm on as the sysadmin.

Are the playlists located somewhere in the MC15 subfolder hierarchy so that I can just manually import them into MC17?

Try restoring a backup from MC15.

Hopefully, you didn't install MC17 in the same location as MC15.

Nope. It's got its own folder structure.

I didn't back up MC15. Now what?

Also, since I can't run MC15 at this point, how do I perform a restore?

MC makes them automatically.  They will be in a directory something like this:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 15\Library Backups

They have a .zip extension so you could search for that from Explorer.

Once I locate the latest ZIP, how do I restore MC15? I checked the wiki and didn't see any entries there pertaining to backup or restore.

Or are the MC15 playlists located within that ZIP and I can simply import them from there into MC17?
