Title: Wav file editing

I have spent ages editing my wav files as I hate to see albums appearing more than once because of slightly differing artists + some had imported in the past and track 1 missed off all the info.

Anyway I thought these edits were done to the actual wave files but there not as when I booted another pc up in another room they were still as they were before!

So is there a way to write the changes to the files permenantly?

mkok, after you verified that WAV tagging is enabled, you can apply the tags to your old files by doing the following:

1. select the files
2. right-click the selected files > Library Tools > Update Tags (from library)

Try this first with a few files to get an impression of the tagging speed. If you have thousands of big WAV files tag writing may take a while.

Keep in mind that only very few other programs support WAV tags.

Thanks for the replies much appreciated  :)

I'm not adding extra tags to the files just overwriting the information that already exists. For instance some CD's I ripped in the past never put the name or artist in for just track 1 so I have added these. They existed for all the other tracks. Another example is when an artist has different people down as the artist so an album appears loads of times. I just change them all to the same artist so the album appears once. Unless there is a way of making the album only appear once?

MC thinks tracks belong to 1 album if "Album Title" and "Album Artist" are the same.
The "Artist" tag can be used for compilations

Back again on this.

I followed all the instruction to the word but the files are still not being written to? I'm not getting an error message and iy looks like it is doing something but when I check the file properties or check from another computer the files don't have the new property in them.

Any idea why this would be? Cheers

There is no standard for tagging WAV: http://thewelltemperedcomputer.com/KB/WAV_KB.htm
A couple of programs solve this by writing ID3 style tags in a info chunk.
Only these programs will read the tags.
If you want to make sure

-Install JRiver on a second PC and apply what is needed for WAV tagging
-Transfer a couple of file to the 2 PC (or use file sharing)
-Load these files in the library

Tags should appear on the 2 PC
