I just purchased a new HP laptop. I loaded MC17 and loaded my music file and all came up OK. But my image file
is not coming up. It is showing the red x in yellow. I loaded my image file it is 'cover art' under Data file but
it won't show up next to my music. What needs to be done. I rebooted after loading these two files but still
image won't show next to the my music list.

If I have pointed and loaded the image file why isn't it showing up in my listing. If I point to the song it shows it but it
won't display next to the song in the first column

Pick one such track.
What is the full path name of that track, according to MC? (You can examine the Filename field in a column, or use the tooltip).
What is the full path name of that track, according to Windows Explorer?
Probably they are different paths, and you need to tell MC about the new location. This can be done with the Move, Copy & Rename tool, were you can replace invalid portions of the path with the correct path (use the update library mode, not a Move mode). Ask if you need more help.

Now I have duplicates songs listed, how do I remove duplicates.

Sort the tracks by a field that groups all the tracks in such as way that you can easily group select/delete the second copy. Perhaps the [Filename (path)] field is the one to use.
