Title: New Apple TV - 1080p
Post by: Sandy B Ridge on March 08, 2012, 06:01:47 am
Now that the AppleTV does 1080p I'm considering getting one as a media extender for another room.

Has anyone any experience of Apple TV with MC (hacked or otherwise). Does it/Can it function as a DLNA device for video and audio? Adding it as a Zone in MC would be awesome, especially if the library could be seen/navigated from the Apple TV.

Can't go wrong for the price if it works!

I'm interested too, I'm looking for the right extender, I was thinking in WDTV live but I read in other thread that doesnt support external subs via DNLA, anyone know if the apple tv supports it?

I have an Apple TV but have not found a way to integrate with MC. It would be fantastic if MC and JRemote supported AirPlay.

Interim solutions:
Audio:  Use MC to nicely tag music, then import into iTunes for playback on Apple TV.
Video: Use MC to nicely name video files, then use AirVideo to play on Apple TV.

Does the ATV work with AirUPNP?  I think this works for Airports.

Good luck!

Quick google suggest Air UPNP is no longer supported. Do you have different info?

It does not work with upnp. It also without jailbreaking does only support a limited set of video formats. No mkv etc. You can only stream local content from itunes or airplay using an idevice or soon a mac.
None the less in our living room I recently recently added it to our jrmc htpc there and to be honest its now already used most of the time instead of the htpc.
