Title: WOL to UPnP Renderers ?
Post by: AndrewFG on March 09, 2012, 04:47:51 am
I saw in other posts that MC can be configured to send a WOL packet to wake up a UPnP library server.
Does it also have the capability to send a WOL packet to wake up a UPnP Renderer?

Not at this time. Are there any that support receiving them?

Weeell yes....

Whitebear provides (as you know) a proxy UPnP / DLNA renderer front end for Squeeze players; and a) it runs on Windows, and b) it can wake up its served Squeeze players.

So in other words, if you send a WOL packet to the Windows PC running Whitebear, then Whitebear gets woken, and thus the respective players wake up too.

I had a sneaking suspicion you'd say that...
