Connected to PC from Sony BDP s580 via DNLA. When the blu-ray player starts it always shows Windows media player as active, even if it is not running on the PC. It show MC (and foobar2000, also) as inactive. When I try to access those media servers the player tries for a few secs and then reports, "Cannot start server." Both MC and foobar2000 will show as active if they are running on the PC.
How do I get the blu-ray to start MC remotely?
Seems like every DNLA media server I've tried has some kind of drawback.
* WMP insists on transcoding HD files (anything over 44.1/16) to MP3, rather than to 44.1/16, and the conversion format is not configurable.
* JRiver MC cannot be started from the HT system.
* Foobar2000 cannot be started from the HT system and its media server will not "push" files to the HT, though it allows the HT to "pull" them.
*sigh* . . .

Some sony devices require that you "activate" the servers in it's settings. Both our sony BD player and the standalone sony media player require this. It's a bit weird but it works. There is also a fixed limit of servers it will allow to be active at one time.
