I get the replies to the reminder e-mails we send when people download. They are usually very nice. Often people are extremely happy with the software.
However ...
Once in a while I get a doozy. Tonight I received a real gem:
"screw you it wasnt worth it the flac files only played through one side of my speakers you moved every thing from my harddrive including my pictures and the only way i got them back was to do a system restore and date it one day prior to downloading your site and dont tell me its my highend 7.1 system pandora& sirius and my dvd-a/sacd/cd changer all play well through my 96/24 burr-brown dacs in my high end yamaha a/v receiver BYE BYE now, sooloos here i come!!"
I'm thinking of starting a thread just to publish some of these.
Whatever happened to
"Thank you for your e-mail. I had a problem..."
"It was thoughtful of you to write, but I'm in a bit of a pickle ..."
"I was just thinking of you. Things are going downhill ..."
"Perhaps you are unaware that [sound of electrical crackling] your software sucks eggs big time dude ..."
-
using blur-brown dacs, and he blames you... ?
-
I don't even know what a "blur-brown dacs" is.
I guess I am just not that high tech.
-
In addition to manners what ever became of proper capitalization and punctuation?
-
We need someone to serve our burgers and fries.

Me neither...I do know of Burr-Brown though :P

Today on my drive home, I came to a four way stop a little after another car to my right.
Trying to be nice, I waved them on.
They lunged towards me, hung a plate out their window, and dumped a slice of pizza right in front of me. All the while they were screaming something out the window but I couldn't hear because I had music playing.
It was confusing.

Maybe Walter White?

It's a shame but, there is no such thing as manners anymore.
-
Not on the internet anyway. Odds on if this person had come into the "J River Brick and Mortar Demo Centre" they would not have acted like that.
More of these please JimH!

For years I've been certain that the internet in general was going to lead to the end of society. I'm all over tech sites and whatnot all day and all I see are flaming, trolling, negative posts, personal attacks, etc.
I try to never post anything online that I wouldn't say to someone's face, but it seems that 99.8% of the time people will just try to be abrasive because there's no repercussion.
My two cents at least.

Here's a fresh one:
"About a year ago I tried Media Monkey and it totally f***ed up my library (iTunes running on PC) to the point that I had to rebuild (not there yet). As an audiophile I want something that is easy to configure and sounds good and the only complaint I have with ITunes is the way it indexes artists and albums. I get satisfactory sound from iTunes using an external DAC but would like something that allows for better management of my tunes. I don't want a lot of bells and whistles nor do I want to spend a lot of set up time and THE BIGGEST REASON I chose not to go ahead with your product is that it looks and smells like BLOATWARE. Your product is not as intuitive as it could be and the fact that there is community support forum is a major red flag that screams BUG ALERT or not quite ready for market! I don't have the time or the patience to fool around with anything that isn't ready to use upon install or has too many features only a geek could love. "

Wow. Some people have FAR too much free time on their hands.

Great idea every program should have a feature for Exceptionally Stupid People.

Hey, hey hey..... easy there. I will pretend you said "Mac OS".
iOS deserves some kind of Nobel Prize.
-
I kid, I kid. I have a couple iOS devices and a few Android devices. Nothing with Mac OS though. In my limited experience with it, I found it counter-intuitive, but I only played with it briefly.

Just received:
It's quite unworthy of you to expect us to purchase each year a new, slightly modified, version of this interface and charge us a further $30.00. (Is this the business model? If so, it is rather cynical, isn't it?)
Who cares about new skins and other cosmetics changes, such as speed? Speed at the expense of fidelity to the source? Suddenly, you have abandoned support for System 16--as you did with 14, etc.--which was working perfectly fine and should've been improved.
You owe it to your long-time customers who subscribed in good faith and should expect continued upgrading, not required to move to another version of the software and to pay an additional sum. Soon, no doubt, it'll become unusable, forcing us to upgrade or suffer. No amount of %10.00 discount will do, I'm afraid.
-
Our culture of entitlement is bankrupting us, and would destroy JRiver if some customers got what they wanted.
