My media files and MC17 are installed on a Windows-7 PC: computer A. Another Windows-7 PC (computer B) is connected to computer A via a regular home network connection. On computer B, I can see and access all the relevant files on computer A.
What I want to do is start MC17 on computer A (so that computer A can play music through the speakers that it is connected to), by executing "Media Center 17.exe" (on computer A) from computer B.
When I try to do this, I get an error message saying that the "A.JRiver Core Component failed to load the product info file: Data\Data Resources\Options.xml" and that I should reinstall the latest version of the program.
Of course, when I do the same thing from computer A itself, everything works fine.
What am I doing wrong?

How are you launching MC17? You say on A, but "from computer B". Can you describe?
Also, can you describe your overall goal here?
-
Sure.
"from computer B":
1. I open Explorer on computer B
2. under "Network", I navigate to the shared folders on computer A that computer B has access to
3. in folder "Media Center 17" (on computer A, accessed from computer B via the network connection) I double-click on "Media Center 17.exe"
Overall goal: get music out of the speakers connected to computer A, launched while I sit behind computer B (in a different room).
At a later stage, computer B will get its own speakers and its own MC17.exe so that I can get that same music out of those new speakers -- but that will take a few months of knocking down walls etc.

Oh, don't do that, unless you've specifically installed a Portable Install on both systems.
Instead, launch the MC17 on computer B, and use Media Server to initiate playback on Computer A.
In MC A
Tools > Options > Media Network >
- Use Media Network to share this library and enable DLNA
- Access Key (will make connecting easier for you)
- Authentication (enter a user name/password of your choice)
Leave MC A running.
In MC B
Same thing, but use the same username/password you set on MC A
Also set - Show playback zones from the server on the client
Now, in MC B, you can select MC A's library (Playing Now > Playing from <select MC A's library under here), and select the "zone" you want for playback. Send your tracks there (Right Click > Send To > <MC A's zone>. There are lots of ways to simplify playback this way, but let's start here.

Sounds good, I'm going to give it a try in the weekend (travelling now). I'll be back with the results, and perhaps for more :)
Thanks!

Finally got to try this out, and it works fine. Thanks a lot.
I'll be back after playing around with it.
