Title: Album Art size
Post by: pcstockton on March 25, 2012, 01:22:14 pm
Good morning forum.

I have a quick question for everybody here about album art size.

Is there a way in media center to find all album art that is under 300 or another certain level of resolution and download new bigger sizes and have them saved as folder.jpg in the actual file folder?

I have typically used album art downloader program to find album art in the past but I would like to do it in media center if possible.

Thanks in advance.
Patrick

+1 to a cover art size field

Sure, finding them, but you'll need the cover art itself imported into MC.  Then you can just use a smartlist, such as:

   [Media Type]=[image],[video] [Width]=<320 [Height]=<240

to show those small art files.

Consider the Uber-view:

Thanks guys.

I scanned Rick's method.  It appears, on first glance, a little involved for me.  But I am sure once I digest it I will understand.

Have a great one!

Hi MrC,

Just in time!  ;D
I was just fiddling with my cover arts yesterday.

The new method of Cover Art sort of gives a "TV Show" type covers. One for the series (Cover Art/Series)and the other for the episode(EpisodeName.jpg).

I used the smartlist code
Code: [Select]
[Media Type]=[video] [Image File]=[] ~nodup=[Series] ~sort=[Series],[Episode]Well, no rocket science here, I basically cut-and-paste the code for Missing Cover Art and changed media type to Video instead.

But...hmm...it's not working? All the TV Series which I've grabbed and saved the series covers for still keep showing up.

another slightly different Album Art question:

If Album Art is not found and I select the album - right click - Links - Images - I get a Google web page with album cover images - is there anyway to specify LARGE album art?  It seems to default to 300x300 or SMALL - I have to manually click MEDIUM or LARGE every time.

thanks
Tony

Hi Tony,

Not that I am aware of.
I was looking for the "Choose Largest" option as default as well.

You could edit the link.

Right-click the 'Images' link > Manage Links... > Images > Search URL:

Change:
http:////images.google.com//images?q=Hexify([Search])

To:
http:////images.google.com//images?q=Hexify([Search])&tbs=isch:1,isz:l

I don't know if this would be a good change to make by default?

Matt,

Where do I find documentation on all these secret/extra/uber/micromanage stuff?

thanks Matt, that's exactly what I needed - I just changed it slightly:

http:////images.google.com//images?q=Hexify([Album] [Artist])&tbs=isch:1,isz:m

It seems Medium size pulls up more accurate covers.

two more sort of related questions ;)  Is there any way to un-nest the Links-Images menu item so that it's in the main right click menu and is there a way to have more that the last 2 used items at the top of the right click menu?

thanks

No, but you could use the links bar at the top right of the view.

In the Options search box, type 'recent command'.

I'm not sure I'm following you here.  Can you clarify exactly what you want?

In your browser, study the codes Google adds to the URL as you select different search options.

MC comes with a default smartlist called "Missing Cover Art" for your Audio albums.
I just copied it and changed the media type to "Video" wanting an equivalent smartlist for my TV Shows. It does not exhibit the same behaviour. Series which I've added covers for still show up in the smartlist.

That will produce a list of series for which one or more episodes have no cover art. If you want to check series cover art, it might be easier just to look in your [AppData]\Cover Art\Series folder.
