I have an album with HD tracks in the unusual sample rate of 88200 kHz and when trying to play it MC protests and ask me if I want to resample to 48000Hz. Now I wonder what I should do: Set (re)sample rate for 88200Hz in DSP Studio to 48000Hz, being a smaller sample rate or to the next higher rate of 96000Hz ? I think the last option of 96000 is the best thing. Am I right ?

It's probably better to upsample than to downsample, so pick 96kHz.

Got it working. Turns out that NVidia video cards do not support 88 or 176. Therefor got an AMD Video card which does and am now getting bit perfect 24/88 and 176 7.1 channels transmitted to my pre-pro by HDMI.

I have the NVidia GTX 460, so that is explaining it.
Funny thing is that doing a Google search I found this
http://www.nvidia.com/docs/IO/90025/GTX_480-470_Web_Datasheet.Final3.pdf
where it says:
"Data rates of 44.1 KHz, 48 KHz, 88.2 KHz, 96 KHz, 176 KHz, and 192 KHz"
So apparently that info is not correct. In Windows Sound I only see 44.1, 48, 96 and 192KHz as supported.
