Title: Unable to play Netflix
Post by: yoyoc on April 04, 2012, 10:16:39 pm
Regards.

I am a happy user of MC since version 15 mainly for music.
I use an Atom powered dual core Zotac, recently discovered that some of the hickups I had experienced with HD video were due to not having the GPU hardware acceleration activated as needed ( MC has so many features and setting sometimes its hard to catch all details right)

Lately I have been exploring other features  like blue ray playback and online service like netflix and Hulu. Since the activation of hardware accel Blur rays play fine as does Hulu.  Netflix however is another story, I can play netflix on my browser and other equipment in the house but not in MC.

Seems like MC is using an older version of the Netflix code, I am in Puerto Rico which was added to Netflix service last summer. The message I get is the same I used to get in the browser and other equipment before such update to the regional code.

What can I do, or is there an update that should be applied to MC ?  Thanks.

Also, Is there a way to place a link in Theater view which would permit to start the Kylo web browser from it?

Thanks ? ?

You can add programs to Theater View.  See the options for Theater View.

I don't know why Netflix wouldn't work for you.  You might try switching the browser engine that MC uses.  MC can use Chrome or IE.  It's under Tree and View.

As far as "Come on..." goes, you posted late last night and again before we got to work today.  Some of us sleep.

You are right people got to sleep.

the problem is not browser related. I use both IE and Chrome and they both work outside MC. ? ?

I am getting the same thing as of yesterday, works fine in standard view but not theater view.
Reaches 7% and then the attached error pops up.

I started to watch a movie and then stopped it. When I went back into theater view to resume
the movie I got the error and have not been able to use it since then.

See my post for fix.

I still can not play Netflix through JRiver Media Center.

Well I called Netflix and was told that the specific programming used is by the provider and thus they can not help.

I have tried every fix in the microsoft support pages including changing my DNS server and clearing it in the config sys; clearing the J River link to my Netflix login, attempting it with the chromium and IE9 selected in tree; cleared the IE9 cookies and history and security configurations and installing the latest silverlight 5 to no avail.

Puerto Rico was not a Netflix approved location until August 2011, before that even the web access would give a similar error to that experienced in J River, after approving PR for netflix streaming service the message went away in the Web Browser but still is happening in J River Media Center.

Is it possible that the Netflix support code used in JRiver is somewhat based in stuff older which causes my problem.

What should I try?

It never worked for me in the UK at all. I cancelled my subscription.

I would like to have kept it, but it had to work in MC's theater view, and without that, no deal. I see it as their loss, not mine...

I was just Reading on a Canadian message board that in another software Netflix was giving the same error message and it was due to the program recognizing only users with Access to th US movies database. Meaning only users located in USA.

Now as other parts of the world have been added to the Netflix authorized markets, the program has to be able to work with that.

I called Netflix again and was told that it this has to be fixed from J River's programing end.

Is there a way to verify that the afore stated is the reason and can the netflix portion of J River be updated for such?

Thnks ? ?

I've contacted Netflix to see what kind of changes we need to make.  Hopefully I'll hear back soon and we can get this change implemented.

Title: Netflix playback not perfect yet
Post by: yoyoc on April 21, 2012, 04:33:25 pm
We are on the way, but its not there yet.

Most titles now play on Netflix after the change in 129, still some give the not available message, for example I can not play "the pianist" or scent of a woman.

Also it would be helpfull if an HD, Recently added and new releases categories iare added in the browsing categories as in ie netflix page.

Thanks

Hello:

I also cannot get Netflix to even be recognized.

Is MC a program that only works in the US when it comes to services in Theatre view? I get a "Netflix has no configuration' when I go to the options. Doesn't appear to recognize my membership at all.

I see reference in old messages to this issue, but was there ever a solution? And, the recent newsletter mailout mentions Netflix as if it was available to everyone.

Is it?

Hi John,
Tell them they're missing out on revenue! I'll sign up, but only if you can get it working in MC in the UK.

They sent me a "revive your membership" email this morning, so I phoned them...

The american lady was charming, but no real help. I gave her contact details for J River, telling her that if they get in touch and sort out their over complicated connection issues, there was revenue to be had...

I'm not holding my breath, but do let us know if by some miracle, they do actually get in touch!
