Title: Should Client be able to watch/control Tuner on Server?
Post by: CountryBumkin on April 08, 2012, 06:54:13 am
I don't rember how this is supposed work - and the Wiki did not cover this question - or maybe I didn't look in the right place.
I have a TV card on my Server, which works fine. I can watch tv and/or record it.

Should I be able to watch live TV and change channels (on the Server) from my client HTPCs? I see the guide (and move through it) but I click on "Watch" I get the error message "something went wrong with playback". I have two client machines and both fail the same way.

No, you can not do it yet.

Right now you can schedule to record a channel from a client.  The recording will be done on the server.  The client can watch recordings.

Thanks for clearing that up. Then my client machines are working properly.

But I do like the "yet" in the response.... maybe this hints that it might happen one day(?)

It's always nice to get a 'yet' from Yaobing! The other notable 'yet' was regarding use of CAMs to decrypt encrypted channels.

I am afraid I promise to many and deliver them to slowly  ;)

Yes, this one is on my list.
