In XBMC I can (using their central database setup) be watching a video in one room, stop it, and later resume the video in another room. I can also see that a video was watched on all the clients, regardless of which client it was actually watched on.

it is stated that JRiver doesn't have this functionality.
I think both of these would be a great addition to the usability of MC in a multi client environment. Believe me, once you have used the resume feature you're hooked.

I saw something like that on a Motorola Set Top Box about five years ago. I agree it's a great feature.
We'll see what we can do.
-
This is available now also in DishNetwork's Hopper/Joey multi-room systems.

If you use Library Server, this should already work.
It was added in v15:
15.0.137 (10/21/2010)
Changed: Bookmarks are shared (and synchronized) across Library Server and its clients.
Make sure you have your clients configured to auto sync their library (Options > Media Network) and also that the server has a password.
-
I'll be setting up a Library Server + clients tomorrow. I'll report back how it works (or the inevitable questions).
-
Doesn't work for me. If I watch a part of a movie on a Client machine, stop the movie and go to another Client machine there is no option to resume playback. Now if I go back to the first client machine I can resume playback. I have auto sync and a server password setup as you described.
Maybe this feature broke during one of the earlier updates.

Sounds like this might be the case. It definitely used to work for me. I haven't tried it in a long time though.
-
Feel like trying it again? I can't get it working but it might just be my machine.
-
Server Sync is not instant, you should give it 5 minutes or so.
-
I played a movie on client machine 1 for 10 minutes or so, then stopped the movie. I went to client machine 2 and tried to play the movie but it only starts from the begining. The resume playback from bookmark is set to "Ask" on all machines. I have "Authentication" checked and the same username-password setup on all machines, and I have the client auto-sync box checked. If I go back to client machine 1 I can resume playback. I have three client machines and they all act the same. Maybe my issue is on the server somewhere.
If someone else says they have it working, I'll keep working on this, otherwise I'll assume it is a broken feature and move on.

We'll do some testing on our side next week. Please bump this thread if we don't follow-up.
Thanks.

When I next go to the basement HT and turn on the projector, I'll take a look too.
-
I'll be testing too. I'm just at the point where I have the library server running and a client connected.
-
I don't have a 2nd client set up yet. I checked the tags for a show and found one called Last Played and it was set to never played. When I played it on the client and then checked, the field had changed to the date/time I played it.
I am using the access key and authentication.

FYI - It worked for me last night and I didn't even want it!

Forgot to say this was after manually reloading the library on my LS Client....(eg it was not a "sync")
