Because I didn't play dvd discs before with MC I didn't notice it earlier.
I only played dvd rips until now and that went fine. However yesterday I bought a dvd and tried to play it and the 1st time I got very big blocky artifacts and very slow stuttering playback. When I tried to play it again, it didn't start at all and I got only a black screen.
Ripping the bought dvd with MC gave an error, but ripping with DVDFab went fine and I could play the result with MC
Then I tried some other dvd discs and the result was the same, either very blocky artifacts or a black screen.
At first I thought my dvd player was defect, but when I played with TMT 5 it played fine. But playing with MPC-HC also gave the artifacts etc.
I already found this thread:

but turning Hardware Acceleration off ( I have a NVidia card) didn't solve it.
What could be the problem ?
Thanks in advance.

Anybody having an idea what could cause this ?
It is not a big problem, because I mainly play from my harddisk and can rip with DVDFab and can use TMT if needed. But I am still wondering why MC doesn't work for me.

Most of all it sounds like a DVD-rom problem. Are there any other drivers/programs loaded that want to use the DVD-rom once a DVD is loaded ?

No, not as far as I can see. I have only MC 17 running. Strange thing is, as I wrote above, that I have the same problem when I try to play a dvd in Media Player Classic - HC, but that it plays o.k. in Total Media Theatre.

What happens if you just load a DVD into the player ? Does it autorun anything ? Another player perhaps ? Or is it Explorer hat asks you what to do with this DVD ?

Nothing happens then.
I just tried a few dvd's. At the moment, when I try to play them in MC, I only get a black screen with most of them. Only one played fine. With the others I even don't get the artifacts anymore.
Btw, all dvd's are original bought ones, not burnt myself.
