Title: Playing DSD with non-DSD hardware
Post by: mtan002 on April 22, 2012, 05:23:25 am
I am puzzled why MC17 play some DSD files but not others.

The setup is the same for both.

Thanks.

How are you extracting the DSD files from your SACD discs?

Nick.

All using the same method - PS3 ripper and SACS extraction.

Try picking a consistent format (channels + bitdepth + sample rate) in DSP Studio > Output Format.

Does that make all files play?  If so, change one thing at a time to figure out what your hardware does not support.

When I played Rebecca Pidgeon, MC17 prompted me to use 24/96 for the songs to play. I accepted and it played. DSP Output Format was set to 96K for sources of 96K and above. Bit depth is 24 and 2 channels.

When I tried to play the sampler, MC17 responded with the message files can't be played at 176.4khz, 24 bit and 2 channel ... 176.4 materials were already set at 96K.

I tried lower down to 44.1/88.2  MC17 doesn't like it.

I don't know what else I can change.

Thanks.

Set all sample rates to 44.1 with a right-click.

Make sure bitstreaming is off in Options > Video.

It is that simple ---> I have bit streaming on. Turning it off makes all the difference.

Issue closed.

Thanks.
