Then JRiver won't do anything at all, I get a Media Centre 17 is not responding message and have to close the program.
I have saved the library, wiped JRiver, re-loaded it and tried again from scratch but still no joy.
Shame really as it used to work OK with this machine.
Any ideas?

Please use Help > Logging.
After a hang, restart and use the 'email logs' button to send the logs to logs at jriver dot com.
Thanks.

Errrm. 'email logs' button. Where exactly would I find that?

Under Help/Logging.

Thanks, found it now.
But I get a 'not responding' message pop up at the top of the tools column when I try that. It hangs again.
Also the computer says it doesn't have an email program; and as it's a dedicated music computer I have never tried to use it for emails.
I'm sorry, I don't feel I'm being very helpful.

OK
I have been continuing to try to send you the email, and think (hope) I might have succeeded. I hope it has the code you want in it.

It's late here I'm off to get some kip, I'll check this thread in the (my) morning.
Thank you for your help so far.

Are you trying to load a different library, or shutdown, or hibernate, or something else like that after 15 minutes?
The log isn't doing much, then it has shutdown-like commands after 15 minutes:
0953813: 472: General: CMCToolsCore::StopTools: Start
0953813: 472: General: CMCToolsCore::StopTools: Stopping tools
0953813: 472: General: CMCToolsCore::StopTools: Stopping loader thread
We don't log why this is happening, but I think it's only shutdown and library switching that call this code.

Thank you for looking at the logs.
I have some Nikon digital software on the computer (which thinking about it has been added since the last time I played music) so maybe that's it.
I have some pictures and films I want to keep so I'll put them elsewhere, then uninstall the Nikon. Is that my best bet, do you think?
Is there anything else I might try?

Could you describe step by step what you're seeing again?
The log shows the program being closed after 16 minutes. It might stick closing, but I'm not sure.
Auto-import sees lots of WAV files that have been modified externally and is analyzing them for changes. The last one it's working on is this:
C:\Users\Tranquil\Music\Bin\Bob Dylan\The Best of Bob Dylan [Sony Direct]\10 If Not for You.wav
You could disable auto-import (Options > Library & Folders), restart, and see if you see different behavior.
