Title: Ripping from CD to *.WAV format
Post by: jllaudio on April 26, 2012, 07:16:00 pm
I downloaded and installed JRiver MC17.  I am already going to purchase with what I have seen.  The ability to normalize output so the I'm not blasted out but newer jazz CD's but don't have to up the volume with some of my quieter classical & jazz passages, pays for the product by itself.

I can't seem to find the option that allows me to rip cd's to output *.WAV format.  I have been converting my CD's and LP's to *.WAV (using NERO) and then use Cirlinca to upsample them to 96K/24bit format.  I have 2X3TB hard drives connected to my PC and play to my SqueezeBox Touch through wired Ethernet.  The MC17 after I've gone through an analyze process has already found my Squeezebox Touch and I have been playing through it.

The RIP to *.WAV is the only other feature I need to make the purchase.

Select "Uncompressed Wav" on the encoders tab in the options.  Any reason you're not using APE or FLAC for your lossless needs?

To me *.WAV seems to sound richer than *.flac.  I have found that what I thought was playing *.Wav through my Squeezebox was the MC17 selecting the few *.flac files I have on my hard drives.  The MC17 seems to skip my *.WAV files.  If I can't get those to play I'll have to save my money.

These might be informative threads re: WAV, DLNA, and SBs:
