Title: Getting MC to Launch Video Files in Media Player Classic Home Cinema?
Post by: rivercruiser on May 01, 2012, 07:50:08 am
I searched the forums but I couldn't find the answer, I apologize if this has been treated before.

I can't seem to find a way to have Media Center 17 launch an external player for video file playback, namely Media Player Classic Home Cinema. I love the cataloging features of JR MC but feel that I have much more control over video playback customization in MPC HC.

Has anyone been able to do this?

Welcome to the forum.

MC has automatic DirectShow configuration, called Red October:

But you can set it up yourself if you prefer.  Take a look at the video options you have under Video Mode: Advanced/Custom.

Thank you very much for your reply. I'll have a look at referred link. MadVR support is certainly a great feature.

I still wonder if I can invoke MPC HC from MC17 to play video files specifically.

Under MC's options for File Types, you can select a playback method for each file type.

Thank you so much!

Looking at it now, I can't explain how I missed it when it was right there in plain sight!

Thanks again!
