Title: Playing Now queue
Post by: AoXoMoXoA on May 01, 2012, 12:20:06 pm
After switching Libraries, when I return to my Main Library I find that my Playing Now queue has been cleared.

To make matters worse the "Recent Playing Now" playlists have all been cleared making it impossible to restore the queue I had taken the time and effort to create.

Please resolve this as it is very annoying.

I don't think it every preserved a queue after changing the library.

I don't think it every preserved a queue after changing the library.

Well, I recall otherwise.

As a matter of fact I find it sometimes returns to the Main Library with the Playing Now queue intact, but most times it is cleared of the queue.

The reason I did not post regarding this condition earlier is that I was using MC16 to access the one library and MC17 for the 'Main' library, so was not switching libraries until recently.

Perhaps the "Recent Playing Now" playlist could have an option to retain up to "X-number" of old entries across sessions rather than to be cleared when MC is closed?

The tracks in my Playing Now lists survive when I switch libraries (in all zones), i.e. when a library is loaded the PN lists from that library are reloaded.

Maybe you have the "Options > General > Advanced > Clear Playing Now on exit" setting enabled.

EDIT

Actually it seems that "clear PN on exit" does nothing when just the libraries are switched without restarting MC.

After some further testing I noticed that for some reason the Playing Now list shows up as empty after switching to different library, but when the view is switched to some other view and then back to PN the old items are listed again.

Good thought Alex, but I just double-checked and as usual that setting is not checked.

I tried this and switching to different zones or different Views did not restore the Playing Now queue for me  :-\

Something odd is happening. Apparently the PN lists are sometimes cleared and sometimes not. I don't know why.

After testing this more it looks like the PN lists are now always (or at least usually) cleared. Something just changed. I have always used PN lists extensively and I have never noticed this before.

To make myself crystal clear, I don't want them to be cleared.  ;)

I'm sure the problem is real, but I haven't been able to reproduce it.

If anyone can find a clue as to what triggers it, it would help.

Thanks.

It may be related to switching to a library which references removable drives, while the drives are not connected.
