I like Linkable columns.
Use them quite often.
But not all columns are linkable.
I would love to see the Composer to become a linkable column.
A very luxurious solution would be to have an additional option in the Manage Library Field.
You can choose there to make any field a default search field.
A likewise option to make any field a linkable column would be great

I was thinking about this too the other day.
Currently, there is a Locate > Advanced tool, which will fill in the Search dialog. This is useful, esp. when you have your Recent Command Count configured to maximum.
Two advances would make this even better:
1) If the pre-filled search could be restricted to the actual field selected:
eg. [Composer]=[Bach, Johann Sebastian] vs. Bach, Johann Sebastian
This one is important for many fields, such as Month or Track #, which currently enters too generic a value (e.g. "May" or "1"), and that is not useful since it matches too many values.
By restricting it to the cell selected, the Locate > Advanced menu would rarely have to be used. This would generalize Linkable columns to any column.
Consider how nice it would be to Alt-Click a cell to bring forth the results.
2) If there was an option to open the results in a new Tab or in the current Tab, this could obviate the need for the Link arrow in each column and serve two purposes. Maybe there is a Shift/non-Shift binding that could work. for both (1) and (2).

What I like about the Linkable column is that it is a visible element in the interface.
It is a very elegant solution as one click does it all.
I detest shortcuts like Alt-Click.
It is not a visible element.
Reminds me of the days of WordPerfect (DOS)
One had a list of all kind of key combinations to perform all kind of actions. Brr…..

I think a more versatile feature would be to add Search to the context menu (i.e., it would search for the value of the selected field or, if in edit mode, the selected text).

Lots of times I wish I could make my own column links...
I currently use the Navigation Bar and it contains a bunch of my common desired links... to smartlists that display the results I'm after....

And I like this idea too...
