So far I ran into 2 DVDs that just fails to rip and they are "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and "Distrect 9". Any clue why this is so?

You can also try MakeMKV.

DVDFab (which you can get a free version of) work well.

So, let me get this streight. Some DVDs have copy protection which disallows JRiver to rip? These tools allow you to remove the copy protection it can be ripped correct? What a PIA! :( Thanks for the help. I think some tips so be listed on this subject somewhere to help out newbies like myself.

How is the MC's fault?
The copy protection is meant to disallow EVERYONE from being able to rip, not just MC. That's why it's called "Copy Protection".
I believe that most DVD ripping software will come up against DVDs they cannot decrypt at some stage or another. DVDShrink generally doesn't like Disney DVDs, for instance.
DVDFab does seem pretty good, though, if a little pricey.

WOW Man,
Where did anyone say MC was at fault?

Will, I decided to just go back to my Blu-Ray player and forget about using my PC. Just too much trouble to store video on PC. Thank God redbook audio CDs are a none issue.

For Blu-ray playback and DVD copying, a reader is needed. A little more here:
