Title: Broadcom Crystal HD Hardware Decoder
Post by: Coolhighend on May 11, 2012, 09:00:25 am
I am using an Atom Board with an additional mini PCI-E hardware decoder. This is a very handy solution, as it decodes any video format up to 50 Mbit and it allows me to build a media center that has no fans and consumes less than 10 Watts but actually can do everything I want. The only thing at the moment is that MC does not allow me to select the decoder filter, I assume that you probably would have to whitelist it. This is the filter information:

DisplayName   @device:sw:{083863F1-70DE-11D0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}\{2DE1D17E-46B1-42A8-9AEC-E20E80D9B1A9}
Type            Standard
CLSID          {2DE1D17E-46B1-42A8-9AEC-E20E80D9B1A9}
ObjectName   Broadcom Video Decoder
FileName       bcmDFilter.dll

I would be very happy if you could include support of this adapter in future versions.

Muchas gracias

I've added this decoder to the whitelist, so look for it in the next build of Media Center.  I don't have the filter installed on my system so am not able to test it.  Please test it out when the build comes out and let us know how it's working for you.
