hi folks
im a new user currently using the 30 day trial - i just love the sound playing back from hard drive - using both asio and wasapi event - into an asus essence stx sound card and analogue out to a valve amp - just superb!!
however i must be doing something wrong as every time i try to burn or rip a cd mc17 just freezes and i get a windows message the the program has stopped responding - i have to reboot as i cant even shut it down
i am able to both play and rip cds using windows media player without a problem
my system is - windows 7 64 bit pro - 3930k cpu - asus p9x79 pro motherboard - pioneer bdr 207bk blu ray burner --- the only other programs are adobe production premium and kaspersky - i have checked in kaspersky firewall and mc17 is ticked as having access
also i have uninstalled mc17 and reinstalled as administrator - also i have tried stopping auto import and also unchecked windows media player so it is not the default cd player - but still without success
sometimes i am able to rip song 1 and then it stops when i get to song 2 - sometimes it stops halfway thru song 1 - cd playback is less successful as after mc 17 briefly buffers it only plays for maybe 5 or 10 seconds then just freezes
i would really love to get this sorted out as the sound im getting playing back from hard drive is just beautiful
hope someone can advise - cheers

Welcome. It's likely to be another program causing the problem. Uninstall your virus checker to test. Kaspersky has caused problems in the past.
-
You might start by turning on logging in help/logging after a crash go back into the logging window and click view next to previous log.
Do a search for crash in the log and post that line as well as a few before and after it here.

thanks folks - ill try uninstalling kaspersky first - only because i know how to do that easily - if that doesnt work ill let you know and then start getting my head around posting an event log - cheers
-
hi again - first i uninstalled kaspersky but that did not help and cds still failed to play
below is a part of the log file that seems like it must be the problem - ive never looked closely at a log before so i hope this is what you asked for - cheers and thanks

What other software do you have that accesses the drive? Nero?
-
the only other program is windows media centre - nero has never been installed - -
-
oh and i forgot to say the computer has adobe production premium installed but i have not used any adobe software to access the drive.....
-
Could you send a complete log file to "johnt at jriver dot com" after you try and fail to rip a track?
Thanks!
-
hi johnt - i have emailed the log file - thanks
-
Update - i installed a second optical drive - an asus drw-24bst and everything plays and rips fine with that - and the audio quality is great in secure mode - seems like mc and the above mentioned pioneer blu ray drive arent talking to each just yet - im happy that it only cost $21 to get everything fixed - whats the best way of knowing when a patch file or update to mc makes my blu ray drive compatible? - cheers
-
Thanks for updating us on the situation. I sent you a link to a small test program to try running with your blu-ray drive.
