Hello
This is my first post on this forum........
I had been using the Onkyo with MC16 as the Server successfully then when I initially upgraded to MC17 it still worked, however last week it stopped working I think due to the release of Version 147.
Now when I select MC17 the Onkyo display states that it is "connecting" but just hangs and I have to switch the receiver off.
I note that a guy called Hooli raised a similar topic but it appears that there was no resolution.......
I guess you will want me to use that shark thing you mentioned in other posts to capture an attempt to connect?
Please explain what I need to do in terms that a child might understand...
regards

Thanks for your feedback.
Here is a short summary of the wireshark capture method:

Am I right that you are using 147 now and it worked in the previous build (122)? assuming you are on the Stable release channel?
You might try the version from the "latest" channel, the were some DLNA changes between 147 and the current latest (155).

Hello Bob,
All was well when I upgraded to MC17 I assume that was release 122. I am currently using 147 on the stable channel.
How do I select 155? is it HELP > UPDATE CHANNELS > LATEST then close / reopen MC?
I will have a bash with wireshark.
thanks

Hi Derek,
Now that you've made that change, you can do "check for updates" at the top of the update channels menu.
It will automatically download 155 then.
Thanks!

I'm using 155 and my onkyo still hangs :(

Ok, send me a wireshark trace.

Thanks.

Sent it. Not sure if I did the trace correctly.

Hi Bob,
Hopefully Hooli has provided you with the info you need as I entered the 2 IP addresses in the filter field and it did'nt like that.

That was a good dump. It's a bit difficult to read as it seems Windows Media Player Services is running and perhaps a Sony uPNP/DLNA app as well.
However from what I see, you connected to the MC server and navigated into Playlists, that was the last thing I could see.
Could you try navigating into Audio instead? Try Audio then artists or Audio then albums. It could be a problem with the container type.
So, let me know if it works browsing into Audio and if not, at what point it stalls. Also, if you send another dump, it'd be good to turn off those other servers...
Thanks,
Bob

Did you get the second one I sent?
-
Sorry, I was commenting on derildo's dump in the message above.
I did get your second one hooli and just took a look at it. It stops at the top level container (Audio, Images, Video, Playlists). Are you unable to get past that menu (like down into Audio??)

Bob,
All I get displayed on the Onkyo is "Connecting..." then it hangs, I never get as far as being able to select Playlists, Music, Artists etc.
I will run another dump tomorrow having switched off WMP. The laptop I am using is a Sony Vaio, would that be the other DNLA device you see?

Yes, it probably has it's own DLNA server.
Did you get a chance to try the test build I PM'd you about?

Bob
Just downloaded 159 and it has done the trick! I'm happily listening to Tinseltown is in the rain by the the Blue Nile.
Well done mate. Anything more you need from me?

Cool.
It doesn't like the playlist container, at all!
I might have one more thing to try.
It's possible it just doesn't like playlists of playlists but it may be ok with playlists of items. I might ask you to try one more test in a day or two.
Thanks!

I was prompted to download release 160 this morning and the onkyo won't connect again.

You should go back to the one I sent you until 161 becomes generally available, the change wasn't mainstreamed until then.

I've got exactly the same problem but with an Onkyo TX-NR609. Just sits on "Connecting ..." when the DLNA server is selected.
I'm currently running 160. When is 161 due?
Thanks

Probably next week.

OK - Thanks Jim.
