So I lost my iTunes library and with it all of my ratings, as I discovered that the star ratings apparently were not an ID3 standard but proprietary to iTunes (is this correct?).
Now I'm going to use MC and I have to re-rate all 55,000 tracks. Oh joy.
Question: is there an Android player that allows me to star-rate a song on the player and have that rating synced back to MC? (I used to use iSyncr ratings widget with almost any Android player to do this with iTunes.)

I think you could make playlists in iTunes and get ratings into MC. Export a 5 star list, then a 4 star list, etc.

Jim, I don't have my iTunes library anymore, so I've switched (back, it's been years) to MC.
Are you saying that if I reinstalled iTunes and imported all my music again, the songs' ratings tags would display in iTunes?
Also, I'm looking for a way to have songs rated in MC and synced with my phone to display those ratings on the phone; and to be able to rate unrated songs on my phone and have them sync back to MC.

itunes stores rating field in it's database, not in the file tags.
reinstalling itunes won't bring the ratings back unless you have a backup of the old itunes database files.
Finally there is a music player for android that syncs ratings with some other apps.

I'm hoping MC will be updated to take advantage of this at some point.

Any way to make it works with a third party app ? (not iTunes please... :) )
