Title: Questions on MC17 User Interface
Post by: undertow on June 10, 2012, 08:05:49 am
I'm a bit confused on the UI for MC17.  I've seen screenshots that show beautiful intuitive menus similar to Apple TV.  Then I see screenshots that look more like a regular Windows app or even just plain old iTunes.

I believe the slick looking UI to be for accessing it from TVs while the Windows looking setup type screenshots from from the server (pc monitor).  Is this accurate?

I need something that my wife and kids can use as easily as an Apple TV.  I'm a geek and can handle the setup, but the every day use needs to be simple.

You may be thinking of Theater View:

Why not install MC now?

Yeah, I need to install and play.  I'm on a Mac right now and need to hook up an old PC to play so I know J River is right for me.

Is Theater View something I can setup the thin client PCs to always be in?  I fear my wife accidentally exiting Theater View, then complaining how complicated it is...or worse yet, the kids exit Theater View and make settings changes.

You can configure MC to always start in theaterview and you can allow MC to start at windows startup.

Excellent!  Thanks :)

Is Theater View capable of live tv or just audio and DVD playback?
