Please advise procedure for copying music on a Playlist to an external drive? Similar to syncing a handheld, but only on a thumb drive. Dragging copies only the list and not the source music files. Thanks.

Set the thumb drive up as a handheld in MC. Options > Handheld. Add a device, pick the file path for your drive.
Works like any other handheld.

You can configure any disk location to be a "virtual" handheld, including a thumb drive.
Tools > Options > Handheld > Device management > Add device...
It could be useful to give the thumb drive a drive letter from the end of the alphabet to prevent it from changing when Windows gives drive letters to other devices. Run diskmgmt.msc and change the letter e.g to Z.
Another option is to sync a hard drive folder and simply copy the files outside MC. I use this method. I sync a folder and use it as a small repository for various portables. From there I copy files to phones, flash drives, burn MP3 CDs of them, etc.
EDIT glynor posted while I was writing my reply...

I didn't think to look there, thanks. However, sync transfers the clips and also artist folders and sub folders. Is it possible to limit sync to the actual clips and nothing else?
