Title: Audio: Sync library between server and client
Post by: paronsoda on June 16, 2012, 12:54:48 pm
Hi

I wonder if someone could help me with the settings for syncing the library between a server and client machine. In my case I want all the changes I make on the client machine to appear on the server. Changes like playlists and tags.

I know this topic have been discussed here before but I when I searched for it I couldn't find an easy explanation of how to set it up.

Many thanks in advance.

Hans

On the server side, you need to use authentication.

Thanks Jim for the quick reply

I have checked that on my server. Are there any other settings I need to make under the Media Network settings?

Besides those settings I have done the following in the main window:

Client: Playing from Main Library. Chosen Sync Library and typed m01p://name of the server

Server: Playing from Main Library. Chosen Sync Library and typed m01p://name of the client

But still if I make changes on a playlist on the client machine they don't show up on the server. Even when I choose File>Library>Sync Library.

Would be grateful if you could help me out some more.

Thanks again Jim for your help. Unfortunately I still cant sync the playlists between the client and server.

I have attached two screen shoots of the Media Network settings on both computers. If you got the time I would be very happy if you could say if there is anything I need to change.

Thanks

Just to confirm, you are

Running Library Server on the server

Running MC on the client

Connecting the client to the server by Loading Library

Making changes on the client

Is that correct?

Running Library Server on the server
In the Media Network settings on the server I have checked "DLNA Server (Share your...). Now I have unchecked it on the client.

Running MC on the client
Yes, version 17.0.165 (server has the same version)

Connecting the client to the server by Loading Library
I'm a little unsure if I'm doing this the correct way. I have attached two screenshots of the Playing Now section of the window. On the client I have selected the server and loaded that library. But when I do this there is no files at all in the Audio section.

Making changes on the client
Yes that's what I would like to do.

Is that correct?[/i]

That's a problem.  You may be loading the wrong library.

Got it to work!  ;D

I noticed that I had the wrong Access key in Media Network settings on my client. Perhaps a bit embarrassing error, but during the hassle with the setup I have managed to create more than one.

Well now everything seems to work fine. Thanks for all advice.
