Title: Does MC support multiple device output?
Post by: alspoll on June 26, 2012, 06:54:15 pm
All,

Right now I am using a nuforce udac output to my amp, then from the amp to the sub by the speaker level inputs, then the sub to the speakers.

If i wanted to use the dsp effects to adjust frequency, crossover etc, i am adjusting the 1 signal going out of the udac to the sub to the speakers.

Is there a way to use the udac to the amp then to the speakers and use my motherboards digital out to the sub and independently adjust them both using dsp effects?

TIA

AL

You could try using a zone for each and link them but you may run into timing issues due to variances in latency.
You can add delay to one of them but I am not sure if the latency remains consistent enough for that to work.
I tried a few versions ago and it didn't work very well but there have been many changes since then and additional timing options added.

You can link zones, but the timing isn't precise enough for use in a single system.  Linking is really more for zones spread around the house.

Your best bet would be to get a DAC that can do more channels at once.

This thread has some good information on choices:

Last question...

Under options -> Audio ->  Audio output -> output mode i have direct sound and then under output mode settings i can select device and channels. Why would I select anything other than default channels?

TIA,

To route to different output lines.  However, you probably don't want to be using DirectSound at all.

Thank you.

I was experimenting with the loopback feature and noticed the options under direct sound.. Very cool! Got it working with WASAPI - event style.
