Title: Unable to play purchased Itunes video?
Post by: JoeBlow42069 on July 06, 2012, 05:16:37 am
I have enabled Red October and I am getting the message, "Playback Problem- Something went wrong with playback- Details: Failed to connect video decoder to source/ splitter" when I try to play purchased Itunes videos. Why can I not get playback to work?

They are probably "protected" files with Apple's DRM.  You might be able to play them by setting playback to Quicktime for whatever file type they are in MC.  Tools/Options/Filetypes.

It's been a while I've used iTunes and the store, but aren't all the songs DRM free these days?

YOu may want to check the store because I'm pretty sure you can "repurchase" older songs and upgrade them for free or a small fee to DRM free versions. That means they will also be higher quality I think, because the DRM versions were 128kbps and the newer iTunes plus versions that are DRM free are 256kpbs.

Worth checking out me thinks :P.

Ignore, sorry I missed the word "videos".

Ya, my purchased Itunes music plays fine. It's just the videos.
