Title: Recording Meters Calibration

I want to record using the recorder. I don't like using auto-level I would prefer to do it manually. There is no calibration on the recording meters, nor anyway to tell what is about the right recording level. There seems to be no mention of this anywhere. This seems an incredible oversight given how little effort would actually be involved in providing some form of calibration. Does anybody know of a way around? (and I don't want to use auto level!)

Hannah,
Currently there is no other way.  I suggest trying the auto option.  It works well.

I can back Jim Up on this one,I've made a lot of recordings from LPs using the auto level and they have all come out perfect. The problem with setting the level manually is that it's a fine between the perfect recording and a clipped recording.

The auto-level should give you consistent volume levels without clipping. If you want more volume and don't mind a little clipping, just do the auto volume and then manually increase the volume a few percent.
