Title: MTP sync with Galaxy S3 not working/random results
Post by: Tommy on July 12, 2012, 03:05:41 pm
Trying to sync a couple of playlists with my Galaxy S3, getting weird and random results. The transfer itself happens, but what shows up on the device is pretty random:

On the default music player on the device:
* Albums show up randomly, more likely than not as "unknown". Albums are generally empty on the device.
* Playlists shows up as empty usually.
* A random number of songs shows up correctly if at all, differs between each sync.

Hard to explain, but getting all kinds of random results. Forcing conversion on each transfer occasionally yields better results for some reason.

Two subsequent syncs can show up with a random "Recheck sync" status:
* Duplicated files
* All files re-transferred despite existing on the device
* Some files deleted and re-transferred
* Nothing transferred

It's simply completely random, in the end I average 3-4 songs (out of my 25 song test sample) that shows up in the music player correctly and can be played. The songs are however transferred correctly to the device and I can play them correctly via the file browser one-by-one.

What's up with this?

Are you running a stock OS on the device or a custom ROM? I know there are some custom roms recently that had MTP issues.

I think that might be your issue. If so reformatting your SD Card may help. If not it is an issue with the GSIII itself it seems.
