Is there anyway to change the audio path based on file type??
I normally use WASAPI event style to output to my usb DAC for 2ch music, and have a soundcard connected to AV via optical for movies (by setting audio path in custom video playback settings), but when trying to stream radio, get an error message saying that my hardware doesn't support the output??
The radio works fine if I change usb output from WASAPI to Direct Sound, but obviously this compromises on quality if I keep this setting for my lossless stereo stuff.
Any help appreciated

You shouldnt need to change the path, just the output format. http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Audio_Setup
You might need to find out the source format of the radio station. Just make sure all audio is output in a format your DAC supports.

No I've tried all this.
I use WASAPI which works fine for all my music, however WASAPI does not work for streaming.
Streaming works fine if I change from WASAPI to DirectSound, but this reduces quality
I need MC to select a different audio path when streaming radio - a bit like the way it changes audio path when playing a movie. When I play a movie it automatically switches from WASAPI to DirectSound optical pass through.

Are you sure. What error are you seeing? Have you really set up your output mode so it is outputting in a compatible format? As far as I know, all changing to Directsound is doing is ensuring that Windows does this conversion for you.
