So I am doing a new build with a 120g SSD and was wanting to put MC on it but I am concerned about the correct way to do this. I would like to keep the main MC and the database on the SSD, but the thumbnails and other accompanying files on the mechanical storage drive. All media files are stored on other drives.
Suggestions - comments?
TIA
Ken

If the SSD is also going to house your OS, there is nothing you need to do as far as installation. If the SSD is more of a storage solution (your windows partition is on a different drive), you can do a portable install to the SSD to keep the database on the SSD. You can set the thumbnail cache directory in MC options.

Yes the SSD is for the OS. Besides the thumbnail cache is there any other items/directories I should specify to offload from the SSD?

why off load the thumbnails? don't you want everything MC on the fast SSD? I have moved off the conversion cache and backups but didn't worry about the thumbnails?
