Even with the downloaded copy of MC17 trial version, I am unable to purchase the software.
The windows pop up window chimes with the long address https://rover.jriver.com/.... and on and on and on, cannot copy and too lazy to type it all in but you know what it is trying to do.
The second line in the error message is telling me "Application not found", yet I am using it to manage my library now?
I'm putting a lot of work into my library to make it J River friendly, please tell me I am not wasting my time?
Thanks,
Dennis

Thanks for thinking of purchasing.
Please download and install the latest version from here:
http://www.jriver.com/download.html
Then do a purchase from inside the program.

Downloaded MC17 again, and still unable to purchase from the help menu.
Application not found?

What webpage exactly are you seeing (the full URL)?
It should be:
https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/buy.cgi?productid=50

Application not found
that is what pops up with the error box, I will try just to click on your link above

You may have a problem with your web browser or security software.
This is not a common problem.
What happens if you enter the same URL into the Window run box? Or even if you enter: http://google.com into the run box?

your link directed me to the registration page and I am officially a part of the community ;D
now the daunting task of converting my mkv files to what MC is friendly with, and then I will read up on my file naming structures to marry to MC
but down the road its gonna be sweet

Thanks for the purchase.
To help solve this for future users, could you try typing a URL into the Windows run box and report what happens? Press [Window Key]+R, then type http://google.com and press enter.
-
same application not found window, with the address http://google.com not found
strange

I think that means your default browser isn't installed properly.
What program do you use for a browser? Have you uninstalled a browser recently?
What is at this registry key (run regedit.exe, then browse down the tree):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Associations\UrlAssociations\http\UserChoice
Thanks for helping. We see this problem a couple times a year, and I would love to get it solved.

I'm using Windows Explorer 9 (64 bit)
have to admit I am unsure what I see, but
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
Progid REG_SZ Chrome HTML
there was a time I used Chrome, but think that was how my equipment was compromised and I uninstalled Chrome

What do you mean by this? Currently, MC is the best mkv player I have found, especially for HD h.264 and AVC content.

Thank you.
It looks like it may happen when Chrome gets installed, then later uninstalled. It might happen with other browsers as well.
We'll do some testing on our side now.

I'm going through my HD's file by file removing foreign languages, subtitles, and ensuring they are named in English so MC knows what is what. They we shall see what the library is about ;D
