Title: Rippping Cd's
Post by: DickL on August 06, 2012, 09:33:34 am
Just started with MC 17 and have a few questions

1. Is there a simple way to print the entire user manual?

2. Want to Rip Cd's directly to a portable drive and not the hard drive of my computer. How do I do this?

3. If I do rip to computer Hard Drive how do I Sync only songs I choose to sync with portable device?

Thank you for helping a rookie

ad 3: build a playlist with the songs you want to have on the portable.
Use this list in the sync

> 2. Want to Rip Cd's directly to a portable drive and not the hard drive of my computer. How do I do this?

Click on "Tools" in the menu at the top of the MC window and then on "Options".
Click on File Location at the left side of the dialog window that appears.
Under the word "Audio" there are three options relevant to setting the location and names of ripped files.

The top option sets the base location.  Files you rip will be stored in this folder or a sub-folder.

The next option sets a rule for naming the folder the ripped files go in.  You can use fixed characters such as spaces, dashes or underscores but you normally use Tag values such as Artist and Album to create a folder name that reflects the contents of the file.

The third option sets a rule for creating the file name.

The complete file path would be

base location + folder name + file name

For example,

d:\music\Sinatra\The Capitol Years\Sinatra - The Capitol Years - Blue Skies
