Title: TV Tuner options
Post by: DocLotus on April 26, 2002, 12:15:15 pm
The TV tuner needs some basic keyboard commands such as...
* Use the keypad to select channels.
* Use Page Up / Page Down keys or |PLS| / - keys to channel surf.
* Use the Backspace key to select previous channel.

* It also needs fixed aspect ratio when the window size is changed.
* Would also like to have 4 or 5 fixed window sizes by pressing the Ctrl |PLS| Dn Arrow or Up Arrow keys.

All of the above are already in the ATI All-In-Wonder video / TV card & should also be available in the MJ TV tuner.

I'm using the ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 video card - a great card! Everything works as advertized!

In fact all of the ATI All-In-Wonder commands should be avaliable in the MJ TV tuner including the new ATI remote control.

Good ideas.

Assume you've dragged the corners to resize.

control-n and control-l will give you next and last channels.

I don't think we can readily provide keyboard compatibility with a number of TV cards.  We can look at this for the next version.

Assume you're using version 8.

I would absolutely LOVE a 'Fix Aspect Ratio' option....

That would be awesome.

The keyboard stuff that KingSparta mentioned are in version 7. In version 8 we adopted an approach of not doing user interface in the TV control itself but pushing it to MJ main window. That means it must conform to the conventions already adopted in MJ main window. For example we can not insist on using |PLS|/- keys for channel up/down as in ATI program. In MJ those functions are achieved by Ctrl|PLS|N and Ctrl|PLS|L as mentioned by Jim. In effect I kicked the ball to Matt Next Page Some things can still be done in the TV control itself and I will add them as I sort them out.
