Title: Activity on clients does not prevent library server machine from sleeping
Post by: BryanC on August 20, 2012, 10:37:55 am
When listening to music from my home server at work, my server machine will go to sleep in the middle of a song. This may be related to the fact that I have never been able to get WOL to work in MC, although every other program I've tried is successfully able to wake my server.

As it stands now, I use http://mobile.wakeonlan.me/ to first wake my computer and then open up MC to connect to the server. I then open a VNC session and every 20-30 minutes move the mouse a bit on the remote machine. Not a great solution.

Currently the server portions of Media Center do not keep the computer awake.  In other words, it won't work well to configure your server to automatically go to sleep.

We hope to address this during the v18 cycle.

OK, sounds good. Jim had indicated to me that this feature was already implemented.
